Welcome to Pantry Raider
Let's get you set up in a few minutes. First, how is this device being used?
Server hosted
Docker on a PC, NAS, or cloud VM. Connects to Grocy running on the same server or elsewhere on your network.
Address of the main Pantry Raider server, no trailing slash.
Press Request access to get a key from the server with a confirmation code, or create one yourself on the server under Settings → Security & Access and paste it here.
This device pulls Grocy, AI keys, and expiry defaults from the main server, so those steps are skipped.

You can change inventory and AI details on the next steps.

Security
Set a password to protect your food inventory. Required before setup completes.
Required while authentication is on. Setup will not complete without it.
Choose a password before moving on, or turn authentication off above.
The passwords do not match.
A lightweight lock for this device's touchscreen. Leave blank for none.
Hardware
Tell Pantry Raider what's connected so it can configure the display and Stream Deck correctly. Skip anything you don't have.
Start from a preset

Building one of our known setups? Pick it to fill in the rotation, screen size, display, and Stream Deck in one step. You can still adjust anything below afterward.

Stream Deck
Auto-detected from the attached deck.
Used to fill the key layout correctly.
Display
Controls the zoom level in kiosk mode.
Rotate if the display is mounted sideways or upside-down.
Pick the type that matches your panel.
Inventory
Pantry Raider keeps your stock, locations, and history in its built-in inventory. This step connects to it for you as soon as it answers.
Getting your inventory ready…
This normally finished during installation. If it is still wrapping up, you can continue and it will be ready in a moment.

Advanced: connect a different inventory server
Full URL to a Grocy you run yourself, no trailing slash. Leave as-is to use the built-in one.
AI Provider
Analyzes food photos, receipts, and barcodes. Optional: you can add this later.
AI features (photo import, barcode enrichment, recipe suggestions) will be unavailable. You can add a provider later from Settings.

Sign in with your Forager account and scanning just works: photos, receipts, and barcodes are read for you, with nothing else to set up.

How this device appears on your Forager account. Letters, numbers, and dashes; it is used in your kitchen's web address.
Your Forager account uses two-factor sign-in. Enter the current code from your authenticator app, or one of your recovery codes.
New to Forager? Create an account, then come back here to sign in.
Your password goes to Forager only, to sign you in. It is never saved on this device.
Run with docker compose --profile with-ollama up -d, then pull a vision model.
Optional Integrations
Connect a barcode scanner, recipe suggestions, remote access, and more. All optional: add later in Settings.

A USB or Bluetooth scanner plugged into any device (this server, a Pi host, or a Pi Remote) works on the Manage Pantry page automatically, all at the same time, alongside the in-browser camera scanner. This setting is just a hint for which method you reach for first; nothing here turns the others off.

USB and Bluetooth HID scanners emit barcodes as keystrokes. No drivers needed: plug in and scan. Test below: click the field and scan a barcode.

Running a Waveshare scan-engine module on a kiosk? See the hands-free setup codes to make it scan on sight without the button.

Camera scanning runs in the browser on the Manage Pantry page, no server-side setup needed. Make sure your browser has camera permission for this site.

Powers the "What can I cook?" page with web recipes. TheMealDB is free with no key. Spoonacular needs a free API key but has a much larger catalog. You can always change this in Settings.

Get a free key at spoonacular.com/food-api.

Reach your kitchen from anywhere, not just on your home network, without opening ports on your router. Pick the way that suits you.

Forager Included with a plan

Turn it on and your kitchen gets a ready-made web address you can share, with nothing to set up.

Cloudflare Tunnel Free

A free do-it-yourself option: run a small helper on this device and paste a Cloudflare setup code. You finish this one in Settings after the wizard, and remote access starts on its own.

Set up Cloudflare in Settings
Advanced: connect a Mealie you already run

Recipes, the meal plan, and the shopping list are built into Pantry Raider, so most kitchens need nothing here. Already use Mealie? Connect it and your Mealie library keeps working; you can also copy it into Pantry Raider later from Settings.

Ready to Go
Here's what you've configured. Click the button below to save and start using Pantry Raider.
Help improve shelf-life estimates Optional

When you correct a suggested best-by date, Pantry Raider can share that one anonymous data point so everyone gets better estimates. Each point contains only the product barcode (when it has one), the product name, whether it went in the fridge, freezer, or pantry, the shelf life you chose in days, and what the app had suggested. Nothing about you, your account, your device, or your other inventory is ever included, and no account is needed. Off unless you tick it; change it any time in Settings, Inventory & Storage. What is and is not shared.

A few things still need attention:
